Starting at the back

Using a single strand of Silk & Ivory color called Pesto, I worked the background leaf first in Basketweave. I then did the veins in the leaf on top of that using the packed Stem Stitch. I moved to the darkest area of the stems on the left and Stem Stitched those as well. All of the greenery is going to be worked in the packed stem stitch.
Thanks for the monogram idea to Jane, and to Judy for suggesting I do just a bud on the right, and to all who like what we came up with. Thanks to mom for agreeing it does need to be a rose, and in the future, I sure hope it looks like one!

Very pretty piece. Love the background.

This is so much prettier than it was when you started - getting rid of the tiles and the shadow and yellow rose really helped make what's important stand out. It's now very soft looking - awfully nice, with the roses and the tassel as the focus. good job!! You could stay home from work tomorrow and stitch on it some more so we could watch.

Judy is a bad influence, although given the snow we have today (and what the weatherman delights in calling A Major Snow Event scheduled for Saturday), she may well be at home.

I'd forgotten your mom was an artist, Pat. She can probably whip up a rose for you el quicko.
