Spring

A while ago I finished stitching Spring by Loretta Spears and the above is what it looked like stitched, with
a different light from today!
Here is the finished ornament.  The four corners are folded into the center and then stitched along the back and it creates a pillow like effect as shown below.

Brilliance

Brilliance is the now finished ornament by Loretta Spears that is 3 inch diameter.  Worked on Congress using Kreinik size eight.  I fit the canvas over a 3 inch button, covered the back with fabric and then added a ribbon edge and gold cord and tassel.

More finishing

This is the Fiesta Cube designed by Loretta Spears that I finally finished.  This is only one inch across and
was a lot of fun sewing into the cube......not!  It took me forever to sew those tiny little seams, stuff it and then attach the hanger but I do like it.
So, I also finished the candy canes that I stitched a long time ago....this canvas in on one of the self finishing buttons.  I put red striped material on the back of the button and then trimmed with the red and white wire trim.

Five out of six

The background and snow is done in the top five sides of the cube....I am working on the last one and have started the background.  I am working it a bit differently so I can add the snow as I go and the basketweave is getting tedious!  LOL

Another one back from the framer

Ocean Waves by Judy Souliotis is back from the framer!  The sparkly mat and then matte frame set this off perfectly!  Thanks, Cari!

3 sides done

I finished all of the background on the "dad", beaded all the snowflakes in the top block, beaded all of the "dad" and have started the background on the "sister".  The background is being worked with Fyre Werks soft sheen and the beads for the snowflake are a matte white.

Yahoo Issues

As a rule, I don't post much about puter problems, but Yahoo is having major issues.  As a moderator of Npt Etc, I cannot post, approve messages, or look at anything in the group....I can read some of my other
groups, and some will let me post messages and others will not.  If you are having issues and getting their 999 error message, please visit the site and post a message.  Maybe a lot of voices will get some attention!

While I am working on the background, I am also finsihing some of the ornaments I stitched earlier.
Mystic is on the left and it is one of the Loretta Spears ornaments and I don't honestly remember the name of the white one!  LOL  Both are done with a finished back which is stitched to the covered front piece.  Mystic has a twisted cord of the Needle Necessities and silver ribbon with a tassel of just the NN and the hanger is the silver ribbon.  The white one has a buttonholed edge with Krinik and a row of pearls all the way around with a white ribbon hanger.

More background plus....

I finished all of the background on the "mom" and added black seed beads for her eyes and mouth.  I also added matte white seed beads for her "snow".  I started the beads on the top square as well and did a bit of the background on the "dad".

Let's do some Finishing

I told my mom I was looking for a box to put the Scissors by Sharon G piece on.  She found this box that she had painted a while ago and gave it to me to use!  She had the hinges and corner pieces so it is time to get this together!  I gathered some goodies together to complete this.
The painted piece fits in the lid on the inside of the box.  It is also a great piece to use to measure and cut the felt lining for the bottom of the box.  Since I plan to put scissors in it, I don't want it scratching the box.  I used the top piece to measure the bottom felt piece along with the sides and you can see the lines I used to cut by.
I have glued the top painted piece in as well as the felt on the bottom so they are drying.
I added  the Scissors to the top and then put a band of silver ribbon around it, followed by a band of navy blue gimp!

The finished inside of the box too!

The Boy

I stitched the boy's hat in Basketweave using two colors of Flair and then did the scarf in Flair but used the Kalem stitch to create the knitted look.  I have also started the background.  the top of the box is all done and I am using Basketweave to fill in all of the background using Fyre Werks soft sheen.

All of the borders

I finished stitching all of the borders with the Threadworx overdyed in basketweave!  I also stitched the little boys face with the Petite Sparkle Rays in white and his nose in the orange Flair.  On to the backgrounds!

Number 3

I finished the border for the bottom cube and then did some of the #3 snow girl border too.  I then stitched her face and body with the Petite Sparkle Rays, gave her a purple Kreinik headband and Estaz earmuff.  After doing her nose in the orange Flair too, I did her scarf in two shades of purple, one light and one dark, Kreinik and gave her the Estaz highlight too.  Her cheek is done in pink Flair.  I will start on the rest of the border around her tomorrow. Most of the stitches are basketweave except her earmuff which is satin stitched. She was green and yellow and I am not fond of green and yellow  but my little niece loves purple and pinks so that is what she got!

It is the Dad

My great niece was here today and said "It is a snowman family!" and I think she is right!  So I am working on the Dad!  His hat is 4 way continental done in 4 ply of Mandarin floss with a Gold Rush backstitched red hat band.  Of course his face and body are done in the Petite Sparkle Rays basketweave again.  His nose is also worked in the orange flair padded first with long stitches and then slanted Gobelins.  His scarf is worked in two shades of Kreinik in Gobelin stitches.  I also finished the border around him.

Details, details

On to some stuff!  I did the hat and scarf in Kalem stitch so they would look knitted using Silk and Ivory in two shades of pink.  The hat brim and top pompom are both done in a purple Fuzzy Stuff in long stitches.  Next, I stitched the cheeks in pink Flair and the nose in orange using a basketweave for the cheeks and long padded stitches for the nose.  I then moved to the left and started the border around number two!

When it is summertime...

When it is summertime, one must feed the ducks!  My great nephew and niece love to go to the park!  Here they are with their great grandmother--Nana, feeding both the ducks and the fish!  Can't spend all of my time working and stitching, but have to enjoy the little people!  Hope you have a park by you!

Getting started!

I pulled other fibers for the cube.  I am using Threadworx overdyed 1084 for the borders of each side of the cube.  It is a dark burgundy with greens to create the stripes around the outside.  I also worked the face of the far right snow man using Petite Sparkle Rays in PS21.  Both of these were stitched in basketweave.

Snowman Cube

The snowman cube is an ornament design by Susan Roberts that is 2 inches square when completed.  It came with the pearl cotton and a card of Rainbow Gallery.  I think I will pull some other fibers to glitz it up a bit!  I think it will be a quick stitch too!  I am into finishing a lot of projects these days!  LOL

Penguin Family is by Brittercup Designs and is a 4 x 4 design on 18 count.  This is a gift for Lisa and Gary who were married a while ago and are now expecting a little boy!  Woohoo!  The website is http://www.brittercupdesigns.com and you can contact your shop to get this canvas.  Meanwhile, I am going to pull some threads and check on some stitches......

Cosmetic Stitch n Zip

I finally got around to finishing the inside of the Cosmetics Stitch n Zip bag by Alice Petersen.  I stitched black ultrasuede inside to finish off the case and then added a ribbon trim over the edges.  I still have a couple more of these to do.  They come with the cotton floss, but I like the glitz of the Kreiniks on these!

Only four hours....

I stitched the entire ornament in just under four hours!  Mystic by Loretta Spears Designs is 3.25 inches square worked on 18 count blue.  I used the silver 1/16 ribbon to do the center design and then using the overdyed filled in the leaf stitch at the center points.  More overdyed worked all the Smyrna crosses around the center and then out six stitches to do another round.  The silver ribbon was then stitched in to create the diagonal stitches in between the Smyrna rows.  Last, overdyed floss is used to stitch all of the back stiches.  How fast!  In the pile to be finished!

Mystic by Loretta Spears

I have decided to stitch another ornament.  I have a pile started that will need finishing and I like to do
a lot of finishing all at once.  The ornament is called Mystic and is by Loretta Spears.  It is to be worked on a six inch square of 18 count blue and I picked from my stash.  It also calls for Needle Necessities overdyed 116 and Kreinik 1/16 ribbon in 032 which I don't have either!  I am subbing an overdyed blue that matches my canvas and will use silver 001 to go with it.

Another finish!

Ths Scissors are done!  I finished all of the outside border with the Treasure Braid in the Skip Tent stitch and
it shows up more black than the dark blue that it really is.  However, you can see the raised handles better in this picture. I have decided how I am going to finish it, if I can find what I want and you will hopefully see that in a few days!  Now, I am off to decide what to do next!

Scissor Progress

I have finished the heart shape by adding the rest of the black Kreinik.  Next, I did a chain stitch around the handles of the scissors with silver and then whip stitched the chain with the blue/silver.  Next, I laid the #16 Kreinik on the scallops and couched them with #4 Kreinik.  On the lower left, I have started doing a Skip Tent stitch for the background.  I am still trying to decide how much I want to do and also what this piece will become.

Shiny, shiny

I am working from the left to the right and have done the blades, all in Kreinik and basketweave.  I did an outline stitch around the single tent for the screw and continued basketweave over to the heart shape.  On the bottom I have added an outline in black Kreinik with the bottom part of the heart and those designs.  I need to finish that on the top.

Next up!

Next up is a canvas by Sharon G called Scissors Case and when I bought it, it came with a stitch guide by Brenda Hart.  I have pulled the fibers for it and made one substitution....instead of red silk Mori, I am going to use blue....more of a blue gal!  It is a 2.5 x 5 design on 18 count and going to be shiny.  Sharon G has a plethora of beautiful canvas, as you well know, and they can be seen on her website:  http://www.sharong.com
I have stitched a few of her pieces and will be adding more to my stash, I am sure!  Thanks Sharon for allowing us to create this one!

June Pearl!

June Pearl, the ornament design by Kelly Clark, is finished.  I did the rest of the four way Continental with the Splendor and finished all the outside stitches for finishing!  This only took ten hours to stitch and I can
hardly wait to get it finished.  Hope you enjoyed watching this one and I am thinking about checking out some more of this series!  http://www.kellyclarkneedlepoint.com/victorian-ornaments?page=1

Working on the bottum

Zipping right along on this piece is so easy!  I finished the silver band of slanted stitches with the Kreinik.  Then using the silver Kreinik again, I fist stem stitched all the curves on the bottom.  Then I filled in the rest of the silver with basketweave.  The stitch guide called for French knots, but I felt they stuck out too much from the curves, so....I changed it.  I am now working on the four way Continental with 4 strands of Splendor.  I have also done a few more rows around the outside edge.

Center Panel

Following the instructions for both threads and stitches, I did the silver Kreinik cross stitches and then the box around those with more Kreinik in 5555.  Next, silver Kreinik for the squares on point and finally the French Knots are done with 5555 again.  I have also done a bit more of the skip tent on the top and started the bottom section by working silver Kreinik slanted stitches.

Top third

I have finished the leaves in the four ply of Splendor.  I then did the ornament cap in Fyre Werks in long satin stitches.  Next, all the silver basketweave was put in leaving the outline of the ovals.  They are worked in Kreinik in the leaf stitch.   I also started skip tent in Kreinik gold around the outside for the finishing.

Starting at the top

This is going to be worked from the top down.  The ribbon is worked in two shades of ribbon floss and one of Neon Rays +. This is where I substituted fibers and colors as I am working from my stash. I am working the leaves in 3 shades of Splendor using four ply and laying each  stitch following the colors provided in the stitch guide.  I still have just a bit of leaf to finish on the left side.
