Cuffs and

So first I did the rings since I was doing jewelry!  They are each a silver backed rhinestone in the center and then Mill Hill silver lined clear beads around them.  Next I stitched the cuffs in Splendor 821 and the shadows are 1005.  I did not do the black as I am thinking beads there and want to get the boa done before that.

Let's do Jewelry!

To do Sadie's necklace, I decided to try the Wonder Ribbon in Titanium.  I ordered the 6 mm a while ago and this is great stuff!  I got mine from All About Stitching and while I was there also picked up some neat beads.  http://allaboutstitching.com in case you want to check it out!  Anyway, the ribbon was too wide for the necklace so I started playing.  #1 above is how it comes off the spool.  #2 is when you take your nails and splay it apart.  #3 is where I cut it to size for the base of the necklace.  Using a size 20 needle, I took the first length to the back and tacked it down with Kreinik cord 001C which I also used to attach the Magnica 1001 beads at the painted intersections.   A necklace fit for a Floozie!

That's a dress.

Today I finished Sadie's dress.  I used Neon Rays + in 26 for the shading areas, Kreinik #12 in 003 HL for the squiggle lines, and Gold rush 14 in 46C for the rest of her dress.  On to the cuffs!

Voila! and a giveaway

Voila! is finished!  I did the rest of the tiny cross stitches with the Treasure Braid and the four way tent with Hi lights.  Next tent stitch created the last pink bulb and string art on top of those.  Last, another section of String Art with more Treasure Braid and Hi lights and the bottom bulb is fuzzy stuff! If you would like the pattern to stitch your own, I will do a giveaway so leave a comment and we will do a random drawing on Sunday.

Moving right along

Since I ran out of the Jessicas fiber, I have started on the Rhodes stitches and 8 point stars around the Jessicas using Kreinik #8 in 684.  Sorry you can't see as much shine as there is!

As far as I got

I have just been doing more Jessicas....and the bit of thread left in the needle is all I have left....so I have already ordered more!  Guess I will work on the next step until that gets here!

Just Jessicas

I am doing all the Jessicas that the pattern calls for as you can see they go all around the Octagons so there are a lot of the 3 x 3 stitches.  Looks like about half done!

Progress!

I finished the rest of the Smyrna crosses and now the Octagons are correct again!  I have resumed working the 3 x 3 Jessicas with the Kreinik and I am working all of the outside ones first.

Back to it!

I finished stitching the bottom Octagon on A Different View and have pulled out most of the one on the right and started restitching it in the correct place!  It takes time to remove all the Smyrna crosses and then tweeze all of fuzz off the canvas before I can restitch it but I hope to get the last Octagon done tomorrow and resume the 3 x 3 Jessicas.

Finished!

I finished Bliss by Loretta Spears, from June of 94, published under the Needle Adventures name.  I had a lot of it done, but finished the row of Rhodes stitches around the outside in Flair.  Next was to work the corners in Kreinik 1/16 ribbon using the Southern Cross stitch.  Last, I did the slanted Gobelins all around the outside edge using Neon Rays.  This is now ready for the finishing pile!  I am thinking of doing another one of these in another color too!

Some of this n that

First, I finished the glass.  I used more Flair in  502 and 517 and stitched that in basketweave.  Next, time for some lipstick!  I used Splendor 825 with three strands for the red, and then just black and a little white for the highlight.  The collar on her dress was next.  Neon Rays + in black and I used the Upright Cross.  It really does sparkle but hard to get that to show here.  Next is her dress.  I started with Neon Rays + in 26 for the shading by her arm.  The darker color is being done in Gold Rush 14 using 46C and then the squiggly lines are being done in Kreinik #12 003HL.  All the dress is being worked in basketweave and only about one inch square is done as I wanted to make sure I was getting the effect I wanted.  More on that next time.

All the hair!

Sadie's hair is all done.  I finished the diagonal Wave stitch variation with the four strands of Weeks Dye Works overdyed Kohl 3900 and the tent stitches in 3 strands of black Splendor. I then painted her fingernails with #8 Kreinik in red 003 just using tent stitches.  I started on her little beverage by stitching all with Flair, the colored beverage--Sloe Gin! in 579, 512, and 511.  I will get the top of the glass done next.
I know you are all wondering about the posey!  I can't do the detail on that yet because of what I want to do and it has to go on last....so just be patient!  LOL

Starting the hair

I have started working on Sadie's hair and finished the right side.  Since it appears wavy to me, I am doing a diagonal Wave stitch variation.  I am using Weeks Dye Werks with four strands of the overdyed.  In between the wave stitches, the tent stitches are filled in with black Splendor.  I chose the overdyed due to the grey streak in her hair on the left side and think that will help with the starkness of the streak.

That's a hat!

Sadie is now fashionably struttin' her pill box hat!  I did padded satin stitch with two colors of Flair to create the perky little pill box.

Sadie's back

First, I finished all of the red Splendor on the flower that I am going to stitch right now.  I then did
a tracing of the pill box hat.  Then I cut out two shapes from felt, one smaller than the other.
Next I stitched the larger one in place and added the pointed shape at the top right.  Next, I stitched
the smaller one on top of that.  You can see where I am going with this now, can't you?

Single crossing

I am moving down the ornament by doing single cross stitches over one thread to create the next shape of the piece using Treasure bread.  Lots of counting here!  LOL

Voila returns

I finished all of the Rhodes stitches to finish the top section.  Next up are 3 x 3 Jessicas using Treasure Braid in blue and gold and then putting a Smyrna in the center of each in alternating colors. The green is a trame stitched Fuzzy stuff!  How fun is that?!  Below that is slanted Gobelins with Treasure Chest.  Next up is four way Tent with Treasure Braid in gold and then French Knots worked with pink Splendor.  Still could be a spaceship or even a hot air balloon!  Love this as it is fast and so fun!

Cat's eyes is framed

My framer sent me a photo of the framed Cat's Eyes.  The mat is amethyst and the frame is silver.  She will be keeping this for a while and putting it in her shop window as a display until I pick it up in January.

Rip and restitch

I started on the left octagon, pulled it all out and restitched it in the correct place....that one thread off makes
a big difference in the placement.  See the difference on the size of the space between it and the top one?  I removed the bottom one and have just barely started replacing it.  Still kicking myself!

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Oh, no!

Today I started on the 3 x 3 Jessicas around the outside border.  The directions called for working it in Petite Frosty Rays.  I did the first one and thought it was ugly--oh,no, who said that?!  Okay, not ugly but too bulky, better word.  I pulled the Kreinik out of the center of the Frosty Rays and am using that to create the Jessicas....much better.  Working right along and I got to here....the count is off....what?!  I triple counted and then looked further down the piece (while scratching my head as to why this did not look right....Notice the spacing between the bottom and side octagons???  I counted wrong at the top!  Since I worked this from the top to the left and bottom and right, I now am ripping all of this out so I can fix my counting error.  I will now get to worry that I have enough fiber....ripit....ripit...ripit

That's done!

Today, I returned to A Different View by Kurdy Biggs of Threedles.  I have finished the outside borders of all the octagons using the 3 ply of Silk 'n Colors in Bayside Shadows.

Eighty percent

I thought I would finish all of the red today, but no such luck!  The top bud is all in red, and I am figuring eighty percent of her hat flower is finished with the basketweave for the first step.

Monday, October 1, 2012

All red

I stitched basketweave on the red flower on the top of Sadie's hat in red Splendor...I am doing almost all of it as you can see by looking close to the center.  This is the preliminary step I need to do so that I can add more to the flower later.  Boring, but necessary!
