Second lily petal

The second leaf is stitched. It has the edge turned over. The three darker colors are stitched in the split stitch but the turned edge was first straight stitched and then a buttonhole stitch worked over the top of it to appear turned.
Tomorrow night I start the bottom two petals!

Interesting way of showing the back side of the petal. Did the crewel wool work up well in the buttonhole?

More progress! Excellent.

As always with this project -I am in awe!! Those flower petals look on the screen like I could reach out and they would feel soft and fuzzy - beautiful shading!!
