Another Finish
I finished the Spartan Iris. I did take out the yellow on the front left side. Just did not like it as my eye went right to those! I also added the iris beards. The instructions called for 3 colors of thread to create them but I had some Estaz in just the right color so they are actually fuzzy! This 4.5 wide x 7 in tall design is ready to frame.

The center
The center is finished. I have started the left outside petal and it is split stitched all the way around. That is the first step of each petal, by the way. I have started working from the edge in to the center....this one will have a dramatic color change.

A top petal
I stitched two of the top petals. The one on the top right is a lot lighter and appears to wrap around from the back. The one next to it is a lot darker.

Petal Two
Petal two lies on it's side with a fold over. There are 8 colors in this petal. And, there are 4 raspberry pies in the freezer and 12 jars of jam too!

The first petal
I have finished the first petal on the Spartan Iris. Luv it! We went and picked red raspberries this morning and I am off to the kitchen to freeze some for this winter and make the jam!

The bud base
I finished all of the bud base using 8 different colors of floss. The nice thing about the working with a single strand of floss is the amazing sheen it creates!

The stem
I worked the stem or stalk of the iris today. There are shades of floss in the stem which is worked in all split stitch. The design area on this is 4 x 8 inches which I forgot to mention yesterday.

Spartan Iris
Spartan Iris is the linen stamped fabric and instruction sheet by Trish Burr. It uses 40 colors of DMC floss and will be needlepainted. I have just finished pulling all of the threads and am going to rinse and press the fabric per the instructions. What fun!

And the big ones!
All of the big leaves are also done! I used another Silken Straw for the broad part of the leaves and the same dark green for the veins that is on the small ones.

Little green leaves
I worked all of the little Green leaves that are in the white and gold area using Straw Silk. This is a great fiber as it is over-dyed and has a lot of sheen. There are a multitude of uses for this thread!

More beads
Plan A did not work like I wanted, so Plan B works for the gold detail on the maroon ribbon--gold beads!
Much better than my original plan!

And that section
I finished the rest of the yellow basket weave. Notice I have left all the gold areas undone? Be patient, I am going as fast as I can! LOL

The background of gold is done. All of the yellow swirls are filled in and I added the maroon as well. This section just needs the leaves and the border.
