Finshed-Dorset Buttons!

Been a m unusual week!  Had acute bronchitis and am still working on getting over it, but did manage to stitch a little finally!  Dorset buttons is finished!

The buttons

I have run out of thread to finish the last two sections of the border.  So I have started the buttons!  Each of the five buttons is wrapped with three ply of the Threadworx overdyed floss.  Then they are wrapped across each button and secured in the middle.

 

More of the same

The second band of small Scotch stitches is done.  Notice that these are up against the Satin Stitches previously created.  Creates a great border!

 

The final bands

I have started the final round of pattern.  Small scotch stitches using Silk Lame Braid 18.

 

Satin Stitches

 

The Satin Stitches are finished to complete this band.  I used three strands of Needle Necessities for these stitches.

The second band of Scotch stitches are in!

New band

This band is small scotch stitches using three strands of Needle Necessities overdyed floss.

 

All the way around

The fourth band of Diagonal Mosaic and satin stitches is complete.  On to the next bands!  Just a few more to go.

 

Side Three

Side three is in.  One more to go.  The pattern called for side three and four to be different colors but I like this combination.

 

Side two

Another band just like yesterday.  this piece is now growing.

 

The next band

I finished the Scotch stitches and have moved on to the next band.  I stitched most of it and realized I was off by two threads.  So I ripped it out and started over.  The white satin stitches are overdyed Kreinik.  The Diagonal Mosaic is Needle Necessities overdyed floss.

More Scotch stitches.

I finished the Kreinik bands and started the next bands using Silk Lame' Braid.

 

Bands C, D, & E

Bands C & D are three ply of overdyed floss in Satin Stitch.  Band #4  is Scotch stitch in #12 Kreinik.

 

Bands

As you can see, there will be bands around the center square moving to the outside of the entire design.  The second step was long armed cross stitch using Sil Lame Braid 42.  Then the diagonal satin stitches are done with Threadworx overdyed 8 in 81133.

 

Dorset Buttons

This is the center of Dorset Buttons by Ruth Dilts.  This charted design is dated 1994, but I like it and I am, of course, changing the colors.  The center is a 36 x 36 basketweave using overdyed floss.
