Duke of Edinburgh

This is my progress on the Duke of Edinburgh, a tassel design by Catherine Coleman.  The white line on the side is my basting stitches to split the canvas in half.  I will repeat the shown patterns so I have a total of 4 pieces that go on a wood tassel base.  This is a very old pattern from my stash!  The bottom one is stitched in Kreinik #8, Soie Perlee, DMC Perle and has Mill Hill Beads.  The top one is stitched with Kreinik #8, Soie Perlee, and more Mill Hill Beads.  Each piece is about 2 x 4 inches.  I have one more of each one to stitch.

Christmas 2012 finished

Today I did the finishing on Christmas 2012 ornament by Threedles.  I followed the instructions in the pattern and had DH cut the 2 inch square of Styrofoam and padded it with lightweight quilt batting-angel-like the directions said.  I did a twisted cord from Kreinik for the hanger. 

The first two

I did the finishing on the first two of the two sided ornaments I created from the Threedles pattern-Christmas ornament 2012.  If you recall, I did them on the edges of the canvas from the original design.  The one on the left is green and gold and the one on the right is red and silver. They are two sided and the back sides each have one of the other designs.  I followed the finishing instructions in the pattern and simply added a piece of angel quilt batting--the thin one--in between and added a simple Kreinik hanger.

A Vintage bag makeover

 The front and outside of the vintage black bag.  I purchased this at a local collectibles shop.  Then I dumped a collections of different green and gold beads in a tray, threaded up my needle and stitched them on the outside of the bag, catching only the outside fabric.  Kind of like a leaf or whatever design.  I just kept adding them until I liked how they all looked.  There are bugle, seed, oblongs, squares, rectangles in the collection.

I also added an initial to the inside in all gold beads.

And Framed!

I framed this one myself!  I had this antique wood frame in the collection.  I took gold spray paint and walked around and spritzed the frame with the gold....just a bit.  Added the mats, and a pearl pin at the top for the tassel to hang on.  Done!

Stitched!

I finished all the stitching, trimming, and did the cord for the top!  Ready to be framed!

Skirt is done

All of the skirt is stitched! I need to trim some more and then shape it.  I also started on the ruff!

Bottom skirt

I finished the bottom skirt and am starting the top skirt.  All of the bottom threads are cut but not trimmed to shape yet.  I am going to get the top of the skirt done and then do the shaping.

All of the background

I finished adding all of the Kreinik crosses in the background.  I have moved on to the skirt of the tassel.  Turkey work is done with 15 strands of fiber in the needle!  I am using my needle nose pliers to pull the needle through!  This may take a while!

All of the Elegance

I finished all of the Elegance!!  On the left, I have started the final step by adding crosses done in the center of the patterns with Kreinik.  Pretty, pretty!  And, this step goes really fast.....back to it!

More than half!

I worked all background again and am now more than half way across!  I want to finish all of the background before finishing the stitches on the bottom of the tassel so I don't have to worry about catching them in the background.  I am not sure why this looks more blue than lavender, but it really is lavender!

Elegance Background

The entire background is worked in this design using Elegance.  The straight lines are laid in and then the design is worked on top.  Five sets are done, two are laid in and these are the first two steps of the background pattern, with one to go!

The Tassel Head

I started at the top of the tassel and am working down.  First I laid in ribbon floss, then beads and Neon Rays.  Kreinik is in the middle followed by more Neon Rays and beads on top of the Kreinik.  Last, I added ribbon floss again.  I am surprised at how fast this is going.  The entire background has to be worked and I will start on that tomorrow!

Starting another

The antique lavender tassel is a canvas by Meredith Barnhill-Willett and comes with the stitch guide and I am going to get it all together and get this on the frame. I pulled it out of the stash projects! There are other tassel canvases that she teaches.

Last one

I did one more set of two of the patterns from the Christmas ornament 2012 by Threedles.  I wanted to use up the canvas while it was on the stretcher bars, so I did this one in Christmas green and gold Kreinik.  Next to finish them all into ornaments!

I have been busy....

Sorry for not posting for a couple of days....been babysitting the great niece and nephew for a few days after school and finishing up the stitch guide for Kitty, but I did manage to finish these two teddy bears with some silk flowers on the corner of a baby blanket!

Kitty is all done.

Kitty is finished.  I added pearls to the border and she is ready to go to the framer.  I am going to finish the
stitch guide today as well.

Starting the border

I am working on the border and have done a satin stitch all the way around with Silk Lame.

The Bodice

I finished the bodice yesterday, but was not happy with the photo.  I waited til the sun came out and here it is.  It is worked with more of the Neon Rays and Petite Facets.

There!

The dress is done, her beaded shoe and foot are done, and the stole are all finished.  Next up:  The top of the dress! 

Almost there!

I got quite a bit done today!  I have a few rows of Kreinik to put in and a bit more of the gray, but the gown is almost done.  I will also get her foot and top of her shoe done next and then finish the stole.

Past the knees

I have made it past the knees.  As you can see, I am working with 3 needles at a time continuing in the pattern.  Lots of color changes from here to the floor, but it is moving along!

Moving along

I am working right along on the dress.  It is two shades of Neon Rays and one of Silk Lame Braid.  The thread arrived to finish the stole too!
