I finished the top of the circle and then added a partial and full Round Bargello pattern in the DMC colors. I stopped where I did in the third row from the top as there will be a different design there before I fill in the rest of this area. I also have to work the centers of each of these round Bargellos. Compensating this type of Bargello is very easy as the stitch is a six count stitch over 5 threads.

The compensating sure doesn't look easy, but it is certainly a beautiful design.
It is actually easier than you'd think to compensate this pattern. It is just straight lines, after all. Once you have done a row of the rull circle, you will be confident how to shorten a line or two to fit.
I've done this pattern in navy to make a night sky with only a few of the circle sides in white to be the moon and some of the centers filled in with metallic as "stars." Need to finish that piece, actually....
