More of the large orange

I worked on the large orange rose that is front and center at the bottom!  I am moving around a bit to get some of the larger sections started.

All the bubbles

I have stitched all of the bubbles all over the canvas....the red and pink circles you see here and there!

Another section

I finished the larger center flower.  I beaded and added sequins to the center.  I also did more of the yellow and gold background spikes, and did a couple of the bubbles.  They are at the bottom and one is pink and one is red.

Happy Holidays

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!  Enjoy the day with family and friends
and I hope you were so good this year that you got everything on your list!

A lot of green

I finished up both of the green buds, did the yellow and gold spikes in the background and all the leaves around the red and pink flowers on the left.

The first Green flower

I added the bottom stem, the first green flower, the stems to the buds and one calyx.
Holiday festivities and guests coming won't leave much time to stitch for a few days!

Second One

I stitched the peach and orange rose--that is what I am calling them!  I also added the yellow and gold spikes above the red and pink rose.

Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Let the fun begin!

I have stitched the first flower and a green and burgundy leaf.  I am going to work across to the left and down on flowers and leaves.

More of the same

I made it across the top and am working down the side now.  Hopefully one more day of background work!

Needleworker's Bookmark

My sister makes beaded bookmarks so I asked for some that were needlework related!  This one has black and white beads on the wire and one end has a scissor that is about 2.5 inches long.  The other end has another pair of scissors and a spool with thread wrapped around it.  It is about 16" long and is great in my books....when I have time to read!

The pattern develops

Originally, I planned on just working the background a little at a time, but I changed my mind and am working all of it.  It works up fast and there is some sparkle in it.

Spring Fever

Going on the bars next is Spring Fever by Machelle Somerville, design MS056.  This is a 12 x 24 design on 14 count.  I have gathered threads and am ready to get started on this one.  This is for the oldest son and his fiance' that live in Lexington, KY.  I will also write the guide for this as I go!

More black and

I added more rows of the horizontal background and beaded the two hats on the right.  I put white behind the piece today so you could see the background better, but it lightened up the beading.

Background, step two

I am going to tack all of the vertical threads with a woven darning pattern.  Gives a lot of shine to the background but not too busy!

Thursday, December 1, 2016

Working on the background

I am starting with the background on this one.  I did baste the outside edges to make it easier for laying in the threads.

What a witch!

I put this on the stretcher bars and am gathering threads and beads to start on this design by Jude.  It is going to be a stitched 8.5 x 9 design that is on black 18 count.

Surf & Sand is finished!

I added some eyelets and some Jessicas in the center next to the Bargello before adding the Sprat's Head in the corner.  Next in the border row, I added some double cross stitches.  Finally, beads were added in the center of the Jessicas, along the top right row of Moorish stitches and then along the double cross stitches.  This is done!

Border, part two

I added the row of Kreinik around the Bargello and then added Fan stitches with Perle.

The right side is enclosed in a border.  I have used Pebbly Perle for the blue and am starting the next row with Kreinik.

The top right

The top right is finished!  A row of half crescents in white Kreinik, followed by a Fleur de Lis in Watercolours, and a pair of Jessicas!

Surf and Sand progress!

I have been busy stitching-in between getting organized for Thanksgiving!  Aren't we all?!
So on the left I added a row of Crescents with Kreinik, added two rows of Crescents on the right in Kreinik, added some Smyrna crosses in the middle of those with Kreinik and then added some fan stitches next to those with Perle.

Monday, November 21, 2016

Getting started!

Although this photo does not show it, the canvas is light blue.  I have worked the Rhodes squares in Watercolour Night Sky 160.  The Scotch stitches are two strands of #8 Perle in 932.  The Fan stitches are a single strand of #8 Perle in 930.  The design is an offset square that will be 5.6".

Surf & Sand is a charted canvas design by Northern Pine Designs that has been in the stash for a while!  I am going to change colors to use up threads and a piece of blue canvas I have on hand!

Red Noel Teardrop finished!

The last steps were fast.  Neon Rays is laid between the gold vertical rows.  DMC fil is worked in half cross stitches to hold it place.  Finally Trebizond was laid down the centers.  This was a fun one and is ready to send to the finisher!

Teardrop, part two.

The 4 way Continental is tied down with upright crosses in DMC fil.  Then I filled the centers with Neon Rays and more upright crosses.  The NOEL is stitched with Kreinik and the red background is more Kreinik in diagonal Mosaic.

Red Noel Teardrop

I have started my next project!  This is the Red Noel Teardrop Richard Seekins.  It is on 18 count canvas and is 3 x 5.5 inches.  I have set the ornament cap in Kreinik.  The garland is French knots in Needle Necessities.  There are two rows of Smyrna crosses in Kreinik.  The top of the ornament is a 4 way Continental stitch in DMC fil.  The veritcal lines are also Kreinik.

Magnolias Framed!

We picked up Magnolias from Fast Frame in Asheville, NC!    Maggie had added a green mat and then a black linen mat before adding the mirror frame for the final glitz to the picture.
Matt, Caroline and Laura are thrilled with the big surprise!

Part 3

I have filled in the corners of the square with Silk Lame Braid.  First rows of cross stitches in silver.  Next larger cross stitches in blue that then become Rice stitches when I added the Kreinik #8 over the top of them.
