Final details for Wailing Woods

After stitching in a ghost in the window and the bushes, I added some fog at the bottom.
The overall closeup shows the "man in the tree" and the eyes in the roof!  This is a fun, fast piece to add to the Halloween collection!  Canvas and stitch guides are now available!

Wailing Woods details

I started with the background and worked the trees after I had filled it in down to the roof line.  I then worked the second story of the house.

Next came all of the first floor and the rest of roof there.

Here is Jane's link to photos of  all of the stitched pieces!

Art Prize 2015

Friday was the first of many trips to Art Prize 2015.  Over 1500 artists display their work over a 3 square mile area of Grand Rapids, Michigan from September 23 to October 11th!  There is a juried prize and a popular vote prize--both of which are substantial!  You can read more about it here:
http://www.artprize.org/

We always visit at least 3 different days to see all of the entries.  I will show you some of the inspirational pieces over the next week and try to focus mostly on the needle art variety.  The one pictured above is not all needlework however!  The dress and train are made from old library book pages!  It is called Vintage Dream and the artist is Reagen Kazyak.

This piece has stumpwork wings and antlers with his sew and padded fabric body and his wing span is about 24 inches across.  Titled Zammara Circada by Molly Burgess.

Material me and friends is by Joel Fremion and was created using fabric and sewing machine.  The detail and shadings are amazing!

Let the beading begin!

So I am adding silver beads to the black dress.  They fit nicely in the well of the stitches.  I worked down to the drapes today and hope to get the rest of the dress done tomorrow!

Boo!

Boo! is a counted canvas design by Nancy Cucci and was published in the November 2007 issue of Needle Pointers.  I stitched this piece in 2012 for myself.  My finished piece is here on the blog.  Look on the right side to see it finished if you can't wait!  My sister wanted to learn to do this and she started this piece.  She had the black outline done for the B,  the first O,  and part of the third 0.  I am going to finish this for her as she loves Halloween.  I have stitched the designs in fluorescent Kreinik and am ready to start the border.

An Elegant dress!

The dress is all stitched!  Now I have to decide if I want to add more beads or just leave it as it is!

I have completed the stitches on the dress and highlight down to the top of her leg!

Starting on the gown

I have started the gown and have worked down to her waist so far.  This is so sparkly in person and as with most metallic fibers, they don't photo well.

Sequins

I added sequins over the pink circles!  This cute design is finished.  I am finishing up the stitch guide too!  Thanks to Machelle Somerville for a great design and allowing me to blog stitch it!
