Beginning the Background

I am back to stitching and the background is worked in the Hungarian stitch using 6 strands of Splendor 879. The Hungarian stitch makes a very nice diamond pattern, adding some texture, but not so much as to detract from the design. Nice choice of stitches by Janet Burnett, the designer, don't you think?
I hope to finish the background by the weekend. I hope you are enjoying this fun, quick stitch!

Love Fatima! And the sea spa blue background! I noticed that when enlarging the photo link that I could see what looked like stitching on the side of your canvas. Do you stitch instead of tape your raw canvas edges? Please elaborate. You're moving so quickly on this project you'll have it ready for 4th of July at the beach.
