Side Area

I started the first side area.  Four Sprat's Head fill the upper corner with 1/16 ribbon.  Then, Impressions is used to create a rectangle of double straight crosses.  A square is stitched over the top of the double crosses with Bijoux.  Continuous Scotch stitches are worked inside the rectangle with #5 Perle and then #4 Kreinik is crossed over those.  Working on page 9!

What is?

I have been using DMC Fil and been asked what is it?  This one is a single ply metallic similar to blending filament but a tad bit wider.  It is also a bit sturdier in the needle.  It comes on a spool and this pattern has used single and double ply so far.
Today's progress report!  The last vertical column on the right has Sprat's Head stitches worked in 1/16 ribbon first.  Then between those are backstitches with another color of  1/6.

The triangles are tri-layered.  Perle 5 was stitched diagonally across each one.  Then Marlitt was stitched over the top of those from the other angle to create padding.  Finally Sprat's Heads were worked in a single ply of DMC Fil over the top of those.  Very sparkly!

and that completes pages 6 and 7!

More on the wide band

I completed the two vertical rows of Plaited Knit stitch on the far right.  DMC Fil is added in a row of 1 x 4 stitches next to all of the Plaited Knit stitch rows.  Horizontal rows of 1/16 ribbon and #5 Perle cover the 4 thread areas between them.  Lastly, I worked the square stitch over the top of all the Double Straight Crosses with Bijoux.  Next I will be filling in all of those triangles and the narrow band on the right.

Is that all?

I went back to the Milanese Triangle and added the DMC Fil over the top of the Marlitt.  (I reread my directions last night and found I had missed it!)  I then finished all of the 1 x 4 stitches over the rows of Perle #8 with the Perl #12.  It barely shows in the photo, but it is all there.  I then worked all of the rows of the knitted plait stitches with a Smyrna in the corner.  There is an empty row in the center of all of the ribbons, by the way.  It is going to be filled with beads.  I am choosing to do them after all the stitching is done to avoid catching all these different threads on them.

Three and four

I finished pages 3 & 4!  The last area to work is the Milanese stitch triangle with Kreinik 8 and 1/16 ribbon and Marlitt.  I have started page five by laying in triangles.  They are Perle and two different Kreinik 1/16 ribbons.  Then, over the top of the Perle are 1 x4 stitches, which I have not finished.

Closeups and

First the closeup of the top left corner so you can see more detail!
And here is the closeup of the top right so far.  I finished the center square on point by adding in straight stitches around the outside.  Then, the border around all of this has 1 x 4 outline stitches in Kreinik.  The first fill in are crossed stitches with 1/16 ribbon and then another set of crosses on top of that with 4 strands of Marlitt.  The Marlitt is then tacked in place with upright crosses done with more 1/16 ribbon.  Lastly, I completed backstitching over the first diagonal row of double straight stitches using DMC fil.

Whew!

I finished all of the 1 x 3  crosses with the DMC Fil.  Next inside and over the upright double crosses are backstitches worked with Bijoux.  The center block has a Mistake stitch worked in Perle.  The inside Rhodes is part 1/16 ribbon and the rest in DMC Fil.  It is then overlaid with the Fil.  A row of backstitches in Perle go around the outside of the Rhodes, followed by another row of backstitches in Fil.  More yet to do on the center box!  I am still on page 3!

Moving on

I finished the Herringbone stitches around the design in the top left corner and this design is done until we add beads later.  Moving over to the right design, all of the 4 way continentals are filled in with more double crosses.  I am now working on a 1 x 3  cross over each of the legs of the 4 way with DMC fil.

Top Left

The top left corner is almost done.  There are nine different threads in this design so far with one more to fill in.  Plaited rays, A diamond Jessica, Rhodes stitch and crescents fill in the area so far. Also, I kept looking at the photo cover for the design and have checked my thread list more than once before I determined that the photo of the stocking had to have been in other colorways.  I changed the canvas from ivory to white but that would not account for the major difference I am seeing in how this is playing out.  It is not a problem however, as I like all of the colors the chart called for.

The toe

I have completed the outline for the entire stocking!  Yes, it met at the joining stitches without a hitch.  My secret was to mark off stitches with a highlighter on a copy of the pattern!  Whew!
On to filling in the designs!

The Heel

Page three completes the heel and adds the first bit of color with Kreinik.  More Smyrnas and Cashmere Stitches.

Page two!

I have completed the outlines on page two.  More Cashmere stitches, satin stitches and cross stitches completes this segment.  Next up is turning the heel and toe with more patterns inside.

Outlines

Page one says to outline the stocking.  Starting at the top, I will create the outlines.  There are Smyrna crosses, Cashmere, Scotch and eyelet stitches all worked in Perle Cotton.  This is across the top by the way.

And, Happy Valentines Day!

Visions of Sugarplums

Jean Hilton's Visions of Sugarplums has been in my stash for more than a month--all I am admitting to!  LOL.  I pulled out all of the threads I have for it and am missing a couple, but can get started anyway.  I am off to put the 16 x 20 canvas on the frame!  I am using a white canvas as I have that while the pattern calls for ivory.  The picture looks more tan to me.  The threads are all whites and lilacs with some dark amethyst and a coppery gold black.

Ott lights

I am finishing up my stitch guide for Stardust and pondering my next project.  However, I just got a notice that the Ott lights are 50% off at Joann's if you are looking for a new light!

In the biz, that's a wrap!

The head dress is all finished.  More feathers, beads and sequins.  Several of you asked about attaching the feathers.  They are taken to the back, secured on the front with thread, and then tacked on the back again.  Easy, peasy!
This is the overall shot of the finished design.
I thought I would try to add a little top to bottom movie!

Stars and beads

I added gold beads to the edges and here and there on the feathers.  Then star sequins and more beads with those!
