Mistake

I am ripping on Mariposa as I was off by one thread and the pattern did not line up when I got all the way around......sigh

First Scarf

I am "knitting" the first scarf using Impressions and the Kalem stitch.

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

I started the sky with a diagonal Mosaic stitch using Kreinik.  The headband for the ear muffs is worked in Neon Rays using basket weave.

The right wing

I have started the outline of the right wing.  I am using three strands of Gloriana silk and working Smyrna crosses to outline the entire wing.

Mariposa

This is Mariposa by Threedles and the canvas is called Caribbean Waters.  It is a custom painted canvas from www.naturespallette.com.  It is 18 inches square.
These are the threads that I have to stitch with.  I need to get the beads yet, but am going to order those.  I pulled all of this together today and will be getting started tomorrow on actual stitching!

Gimmies

This is a canvas by Gimmies that I have put on the stretcher bars and am pulling threads for.  It is a 3.5 x 10.5 design and I plan on working on this along with Mariposa until another reveal pops up in a few days.

A spider

Beth said we needed a spider and Jane Wood provided a quick way to do one!  A bicone bead for his body, another bead for his head!  Cute!  This is done and I think she is one great looking witch!  Thanks to Leigh Designs for permission to blog stitch this piece. I will finish the stitch guide and it
will be available soon!  www.leighdesigns.com  has a full listing of all the stitch guides.

The Web

The Web is done with more Kreiniks!  I will try and get a full shot tomorrow. It is gray and rainy today but the sun will shine then.

The dress is stitched!

I finished the rest of the dress stitching.  Now I am going to add some bling!  Below  is a closeup of the bottom.

Almost there

I have finished the longest diagonal and the right side of the dress on the floor.  The witches hat at the bottom shows the completed from there to the right.  The needle at the top shows where I am and how far down there is left to go.  Probably one more stitching day.

All of the diagonals

I finished all of the diagonal laid stitches and have come back with the filling stitches down to where the witches hat is at.  Just a few more hours on the dress!

From this

 We started with this....
and got to this!  No stitching today!

And so it grows....

I am back to working more on the dress.  Laid filling stitches are fun and easy to do.  I hope you can see the variation in the overdyed Kreinik which gives the variation and depth that the black deserves.

Candles!

I finished the padded satin stitch candles!  So the candelabra is complete.  Back to working on the dress.

Moving a little faster.

I have completed the bodice and started down the gown.  It is completed past the belt buckle and I have the diagonals in down past her hand.

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Both sleeves

I am using a laid filling stitch for the gown.  Both sleeves are done.  The bodice is started.  The diagonals are all laid in first to establish the flow of the pattern.  Then the filling stitch is done over the top of the diagonals.  Notice that the left sleeve is moving in a different direction from the right one and the rest of the gown.

More sleeves

I have started the dress.  The right sleeve is totally stitched and I have laid the diagonals in on the second sleeve.  The stitch is worked first with Kreinik and then Threadworx overdyed.

Getting dressed....

I stitched the belt buckle with 2 shades of gold Kreinik and the belt itself with Frosty Rays for some more shine.
Next I added her ring with some Mill Hill beads and a Crystalett.

Finish work

I completed the finishing on the Versailles Frame Weight.  It looks great!  I stitched the bottom areas together with buttonhole thread, very securely!  Then I glued gray felt to the bottom.  It is done!
Back to working on Morgana!

The final color

The final color is in on the candelabra!  My thread did not arrive today so the candles will have to wait....what will I start on next?

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Two out of three

I finished two of the three colors of Kreinik in the candelabra!  One more to go and then I will finish the candles as well.

Wednesday, August 7, 2013

The Candelabra

I have started the candles and the Candelabra.  I am using 3 shades of Kreinik gold for the Candelabra.  The candles have long stitches done in Kreinik white so far with more to go.  I have just two of the three colors in on the candelabra so far, but am working along.  As it stands on the floor, and is good sized, it may take a bit of doing!

And a glass of wine...plus

Morgana is a classy witch and is having a glass of wine!  Smart gal!

Then I have moved on and done the linings of her dress sleeves in Planet Earth Silk and Gloriana silk.

Long Tresses

All of Morgana's hair is done.  Beth said silver highlights in the black hair not gray, so we will go with that!

Sunday, August 4, 2013

Almost there

The entire right side is done, the left side down  to her chin and a few rows beyond.  I will finish it tomorrow!

Saturday, August 3, 2013

Got it!

I am using Gloriana silk in an overdyed!  It looks better in person but if you look close, you can tell I have started the right side and am down past her chin and have one long tendril done!  Glad I changed the fiber!  DH says it looks like real hair now!  LOL

Starting the hair

Today, I started Morgana's hair.  I was thrilled to see the Neon Rays stitched in the Black areas.  Then I started in stitching the Gray areas.  I wasn't happy with the color next to the black as it was just too stark.  I am going to do the infamous ripit stitch and change fibers and see what that does for her flowing locks!  Stay tuned.......
