Boo is Framed

Boo is all framed!  I had a vintage frame in my stash, and had DH spray paint it black!  I then fit the canvas into it and added a black fringed orange ribbon for the hanger!

Repeat stitching progress

I have finished the rip it and am back to putting in stitches!  The center circle of Smyrnas was off by one thread so I replaced them.  The Jessica is redone in Frosty Rays and the then the the Plaited Rays are all done in  Panache so far.  Almost back to where I was!

Back to a Different View

What, no photo?  No, and the reason is I was finishing the crescents around the outside edge of the first design and realized I am off by one thread!  One thread!!!  I am ripping, frogging, removing stitches, and probably even learning new words!  On a brighter note, I did finish the eight sided stars around the outside edge without making any mistakes....back to the scissors and tweezers!  Arghhhhhhh

Pulling from the stash

This is called Pansies and is by Trish Burr and is a needlepainted design that has been languishing in my stash pile for a while.  Time to frame it up and get it in the rotation!

Because it is Black Friday or

because I could not stand it anymore.....I called Ruth at Bedecked and Bedazzled and ordered Broom Parking!  The complete kit arrived in the mail last week and I can hardly stand not just framing it up and getting it started!  The canvas which arrived in lime green dotted tissue paper is a 9 x 14 design by Share One's Ideas on 18 count.  Ruth has worked her magic and this is a totally awesome Halloween design and finished piece!  You can see the finished piece on Ruth's blog:  http://www.notyourgrandmothersneedlepoint.com/search?updated-max=2012-11-13T20:50:00-05:00&max-results=3
The canvas came with the stitch guide, and four cellophane bags of goodies to stitch the design.....coming soon to this blog!
Here is Ruth's website at Bedecked, just in case you can't stand it anymore either!  LOL

Bliss revisited.

Here is the second version of Loretta Spear's Bliss ornament.  I changed the colors on this one to use reds and golds instead of the silver and white in the original version below.
The pattern works up fast as it is done with 1/16 metallic ribbon, Neon Rays on the white and Flair on the red, along with Flair on the white and Neon Rays Plus.  Now, all I have to do is the finishing!

One more

A while ago, I stitched this design by Loretta Spears in white Snow and liked how fast it stitched and decided I would go ahead and do another in blue Snow.  The design is called Snowflake, in the Needle Adventures pattern, date 11 of 94.

The final touches

Sadie got the final touches.  I added a strand of blending filament to the ice in the glass for a little shine.  Next using sheer red ribbon, I added a frill to the top bud and then stitched the calyx and stem using YLI silk ribbon.  The back leaves are also stitched using YLI ribbon.  Next a piece of wired sheer red ribbon to pull one side and scrunch along to create a small center bud and large outside frill.  Last more sheer ribbon that I gathered in the center and then stitched down with black bugle beads for the cuffs.  I made the choice not to stitch the lavender canvas but leave it as is.  Sadie is ready for framing!  Thanks again to Leigh Designs for
permission to blog stitch the piece!  She is an amazing Floozy!

Boo! is done

Here is the photo in regular light so you can see the orange and purple borders.  Below is the photo that the glow in the dark threads show up--in the words anyway!

Almost done

I am still working on the bar.  I am almost done....just a bit on the right is left to be filled in with the Neon Rays.

The Bar

Since Sadie is leaning on the bar preparing to take a sip of her Sloe Gin, it is time to get the bar filled in.  I am using black and white Neon Rays and doing Gobelin stitches to create the checkered bar.

Sadie's stole

Sadie's stole is finished and I brushed it with the Bunka brush, so it is nice and fluffy!

And it grows.

I am still stitching on the Boa.  Basketweave takes some time and a single strand of Wisper is covering nicely.  I have brushed some of it with the Bunka brush so you can see the effect. I am using 60, 61, and 88 by the way.....back to it

The boa

After auditioning many fibers and many, many stitches, I finally made my decision.  I don't want the boa to jump out at you, but should be a secondary point due to the size.  I wanted fuzzy or furry as they are.  I finally chose Wisper in three shades.  It brushes up for some fuzzy but not overwhelming.

Decisions.

So I finished the exclamation point stitches and then the directions call for decisions.  I decided to go ahead and outline the entire word and fill in the centers of the B and the O's with 052F Kreinik so those areas glows in the dark!  Next I have started the ribbon border.  The directions call for 1/16 ribbon and of course I have 1/8 but am using it anyway to frame the design area.

Voila, the ornament

I finished up the Voila ornament.  I did a simple gold trim around the outside edges and the back is gold lame.  I used a plain gold cord for the hanger, and tied a green bow--that matches the Fuzzy stuff in the middle and at the bottom.  Who would have thought I would have that?!

I had to!

This piece is so darn cute and stitches so quickly!  I had to go ahead and finish the B after I had started and finished the first O.  Then I did the third O!  The second one is done in Milanese Stitch minus one and the second O is worked in Criss Cross Hungarian.  Too cute!

Intro to Boo!

I know Halloween is over, but....my sister wants to learn how to stitch this design.  She used to cross stitch so I knew she would be able to handle it on needlepoint canvas.  Boo is by Nancy Cucci and was published in the November 2007 issue of Needlepointers.  It is worked on a 9 x 11 square of black 18 count.  It called for floss, but I am working it all in Kreinik so it will shine!  Black for the outline and 032 for the iridescent white.  I am going to do some of the stitches in each section so she can see where and how.

More of the rose garden

First I added the Diamond Jessicas with Kreinik and added a 3 x 3 Jessica with more Kreinik.  Then around the outsided are more 3 x 3 Jessicas with Kreinik 012.  I started the Plaited Rays in the top one and the bottom one I did is done using Pebbly Perle.

Here come the colors!

So, I chose Octagon pattern #3, called the Rose for the top pattern on my version of A Different View.
Here are color after color!.  The center Jessica is stitched with Petite Frosty Rays in 022 and then the Rhodes in the center of that is done in Panache 57.  Next are Diamond Plaited Rays with Panache in three colors and the final is Kreinik #8 in 024.  This is very bright now!

More of the border

I worked on the borders of the Octagons some more.  There are eight pointed stars, and over 3 and 4 Rhodes stitches.  I have them almost all done, but moved up to start some other stitching for a while!  The top Octagon is going to be filled with the Rose pattern.  There are several designs given in the pattern and you choose which four you want to work and where you wan to place them--how cool is that?!

Cosmetic Bag

I take the Stitch n Zip projects when I travel and this is one of the Cosmetic Bags that I just finished sewing the Ultrasuede lining into.  I change the floss out for all Kreiniks so they sparkle!
